| One hundred and fifty years after it's completion the Cape Henlopen lighthouse was decommissioned due to eroding sands which threatened to undermine it's foundation. This painting depicts my vision of what the light house would have looked like on it's last day of operation. Less than two years later in the spring of 1926 the lighthouse crumbled and now remains only in the hearts of those who can imagine it's grandeur, as the actual site is now beneath the waves. |
