"Abraxas Hudson, 29, has enjoyed painting and drawing since he was a small child. He began selling his work when he was 14. After he graduated from Cape Henlopen High School, he left Rehoboth Beach, where he had grown up, and traveled to the West Coast, where he signed up for art classes in oil painting in Washington and California. "I've been traveling around the country and painting since," he says. His favorite destination so far has been Utah. "It has the most exquisite landscape in the Americas," he says. He also likes Whidbey Island, northwest of Seattle in Washington. Of his painting style, Abraxas says "I love to enhance nature. I love the sea and the sunrise." He's particularly drawn to the coast, which is why he always returns to Rehoboth Beach. "This is my home so I try to spend a lot of time here and do a lot of paintings of the seashore," he says. "I really love to paint scenes people can relate to - places they've been, places they love." His favorite painting spots in Delaware are Cape Henlopen State Park and Brandywine State Park, particulary because he likes to hike and to be outside. Abraxas says he comes from an artistic family, though most are in the real-estate business at the beach. Ironically, he says, "I really enjoy preserving the natural landscape as development encroaches on nature." He recently opened Abraxas Fine Art, a studio and gallery in Milton. He plans to offer art lessons soon. For details vist www.abraxasart.com."
